Industries and Manufacturing: The situation Mbeya Region had a number of Manufacturing Industries operating under Public Sector before privatization. These industries include
The encouragement of the private sector by the government in building a competitive economy has managed the establishment of new industries in Mbeya such as Tanzania Oxygen Limited (TOL) a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial and medical gases in Tanzania located in Kyejo – Rungwe District which taps a natural carbon dioxide gas. Coca Cola Company, Pepsi Cola Company, Marmo Marble Tiles, City Coffee, WELLA Highland Mill, Furaha Bakery, LIMA Coffee Curing in Mbozi, water bottling in Rungwe, and Mbeya Breweries are investments which are currently being developed. In addition there are Small and Medium Industries operating under SIDO and private sector which are scattered all over the region. They include Food Processing Industries which produce various products to add value such as wine, biscuits, sauces and allied products. In Mbarali there seven (7) rice millers which process, clean and grade rice. About 75% of this produced rice is consumed in Dar es Salaam. More than 50 small scale processing industries produce cooking oil from sunflowers seeds all over the region, and crude palm oil in Kyela district. Investment Opportunities in Industries and Manufacturing Given the abundance of resources and supporting services in Mbeya, there are ample opportunities in industries investment. The raw materials from agriculture, mining and natural resources make Mbeya Region an optimal location for variety of manufacturing industries. The current operating transport systems, telecommunication industry networks and the available financial services could effectively be used to support industrialization in the region. In addition to that Mbeya region is taking initiative to reserve 2,000 acres of land for EPZ activities as an effort to create conducive environment to investors for export products. |

Mbeya Region has one of the fast growing economies in Tanzania. It has plenty of opportunities for investment ranging from agriculture, mining, manufacturing, transport, tourism, social services, infrastructure just to mention but a few.
The region has committed leadership to drive the process to achieve the goal of making the region the best investment destination in the country.
