Mbeya region is located in the Southern Highlands Zone of Tanzania. The Region is bordered by the Republics of Malawi and Zambia to the South, to the West by Rukwa Region, to the North by Singida and Tabora regions and to the East by Iringa Region. Mbeya Region covers an area of 63,617 sq km of which 61, 783 is land and 1, 834 sq. km. is water. Out of 61,783 of the land, 57,000 sq. km (5,700,000 hectares) is arable land.
