The situation

The District is interconnected with good road network of 988.8 km giving easy access within and to areas outside. The main road connecting Chunya and other districts is gravel well maintained and passable through-out the year. It connects with Tabora, Singida and Mbeya Regions Head Quarter. Also the District is connected with Mbozi, Mpanda, Sumbawanga Rural via Lake Rukwa.

Telecommunication and Media Coverage

Telecommunication is one of the fastest growing trades in Chunya District. Initially Tanzania Telecommunication Company Limited (TTCL) was the only company offering telecommunication facilities within and outside the District However the introduction of cellular telephone has created a big competition followed by ground-breaking services.

Chunya District enjoys a wide coverage of cellular telephone services to most growing towns’ areas. These include TIGO, VODACOM, ZANTEL and ZAIN. New mobile users are attracted to subscribe to available companies in the District to facilitate their business communications and this has reduced the number of people moving with goods.

Also the District enjoys information from printed media such as Tanzania Standard Newspaper – Daily News, Habari Leo, Sunday News, The Guardian, Nipashe.  Radios available are; Mbeya Fm, Radio Free Africa (RFA), Radio One, Clouds FM, TBC Fm, TBC Taifa, Radio Maria, Radio Imani, and also all Television sevices are available by using satellite dish.

Financial Institutions

Chunya District has trustworthy commercial bank which assures the availability of financial resources.  There is one commercial bank which is National Microfinance Bank (NMB) located at Chunya town with ATM services.
