Chunya District strives to deliver social services to its people in collaboration with Central Government, Organizations and donors with regard to education, water and health.  The communities also play a big role when it comes to investment as well as operational costs of social infrastructures.

Education Sector

The District has 108 primary schools and 20 secondary schools in which one is advanced level Kiwanja secondary school and one college of Nursing at Mwambani Mission Hospital in Mkwajuni village.

  • - Establishment of more primary schools, Secondary schools, kindergarten schools, English Medium Schools and special schools.
  • - Education support services such as Hostels, Laboratories, and libraries.
  • - Information  technology and communication centers (ICT)
  • - Establishment of colleges and universities.
  
Water Supply and Sewage

The population accesses to clean and safe water in both urban and rural areas are 18,307 which are 40.4% of population in the District. Households with acceptable latrines are 22,126 which are 49% of the total households in the District. (Source: District water Engineer, 2009)

Health Sector

The District has 38 health facilities in which 2 are Hospitals, 2 rural health centers (Mbuyuni and Mtanila) and 34 are dispensaries. The District has 1 District hospital (Chunya Hospital) and 1 voluntary agency hospital (Mwambani Hospital).
