Social Infrastructure: Situation

Health

The District provides health services in two hospitals one in Chimala and the other in Rujewa.  There are two health centres and 39 dispensaries over the District. Most of these health centres and Hospitals are supported by health insurance services from government (National Health Insurance Fund - NHIF)

Water Supply and Sewerage

The District has 35 deep and 47 shallow wells. Rujewa Township has authority (RUWASA) that is engaged in water supply and sanitation in entire Rujewa Ward. Coordination of water availability on other areas of the District is done by the District Water Department. About 76% of the total population has access to clean and safe water within a distance of not more than 400 m.

Education status in the District

Mbarali District has 107 Primary Schools and 18 Secondary Schools with only Ordinary levels of education. Colleges including Nursing Center at Chimala and Agriculture learning Institute at Igurusi

Investment Opportunities in Social Infrastructure

As it has been noted that Mbarali District has few all levels of education, therefore there is a need to invest in the following areas:

(a) Constructing and running of pre-primary schools, primary and secondary schools
(b) Investment on institutions that will partner in research and development
(c) Construction and hiring of services like hostels, libraries and laboratories
(d) Establishment of Teachers Training colleges especially for Science subjects and other disciplines
